Horses have always held a sacred place in human history. They have carried us, worked beside us, reflected us, and taught us far more than many of us were ever taught to notice.
At Soul Barn, we believe horses are not simply animals to be ridden or admired from a distance. They are sentient beings with their own needs, preferences, boundaries, wisdom, and ways of communicating. To be in relationship with them asks something of us. It asks us to slow down. To soften. To listen with more than our ears.
Horses are intensely sensitive creatures. They can hear the smallest sounds from far away, see nearly all the way around their bodies, and feel subtle shifts in energy, posture, breath, and intention. Their hearts weigh nearly 8 to 10 pounds, and when you stand beside them, you can feel the steadiness of that presence. It is powerful, but it is not something to take from them. It is something to honor.
Our herd is at the center of everything we do. They are teachers in our horsemanship coaching and enrichment sessions. They are partners in our equine experiences. They are the quiet grounding force beneath our sound baths, meditations, workshops, and gatherings. They remind us that connection cannot be forced. Trust cannot be rushed. Leadership does not require domination. And true partnership begins with respect.
When you work with our herd, you are invited into a different kind of relationship. One rooted in awareness, compassion, ethical handling, and mutual trust. Whether you are learning groundwork, building confidence around horses, deepening your horsemanship skills, or simply standing in their presence, the invitation is the same: return to yourself so you can meet the horse honestly.
Some say horses teach us the wisdom of the herd. Others say they call us back to the spiritual nobility within ourselves. We believe both are true.
Here at Soul Barn, our hope is that everyone gives themselves the opportunity to experience the quiet magic of horses through our many programs, events, and offerings. You do not have to own a horse to know one.
You only have to arrive with curiosity, humility, and an open heart.

Hi there, I'm Dutton. Once a trusty ranch horse, I'm a Quarter Horse with a heart as grand as the wide-open prairie. Kindness flows through my veins, and patience is etched into my very being. I'm always willing to please, eager to lend a helping hoof wherever needed. They call me a big boy, not just because of my size, but because I've got a big heart to match.

As a retired off-the-track Thoroughbred, I am grateful for the beautiful respite of Soul Barn at Serenbe. And although I no longer race, I am still a diva. I am a natural dancer and have a lovely trot. When I’m not showing off my moves, I enjoy hanging out with my human compatriots relishing in their companionship.

My name is Steve and I am a 17 ½ year old bay registered Paint. I used to barrel race in Texas but retired and came to soul barn last year when I was adopted into a new family. I’m generally a humble guy but when the limelight calls, I’ll show off my skills for you. I really enjoy the healing work we do here with people from all over the world and the one thing that always lights me up—treats!

As a young pony, I was agile and quick on my feet, making me an accomplished barrel racer. In my maturity, I've slowed a bit, but I'm happily willing to spend time with the youngsters. I'm quiet, patient, and sweet, the wise and willing teacher who imparts my knowledge graciously.

Hey there, I'm Chili, the Quarter Horse with a tale to tell. Once a daring jumper, I've now found my calling as a gentle coach for beginners. My slow and methodical pace helps riders find their rhythm, and I'm quick to sense when someone needs to find their balance. They say I'm wise beyond my years, a spirit guide who connects with those whose intentions are pure and hearts are open.

I'm Maggie, the proud leader of my herd, even though I've faced challenges like losing an eye. As a mature Appaloosa mare, my strong will has helped me overcome obstacles and keep my herd safe. I may have a tough exterior, but underneath it all, I'm just a mare who loves to be groomed and cherished. I'm always on the lookout for love and

I'm Starlight, the seasoned mare with a lifetime of wisdom to share. Though I may be getting on in years, my basic flat-work and jumping skills still shine bright. As a forward mover, I prefer a light touch to keep me at a walk or trot. I’ve been known to voice a strong opinion now and then, but really I’m just a mare who craves affectio
