Our youth horsemanship coaching program offers one-on-one sessions that blend safety, hands-on learning, and foundational horsemanship skills in a supportive environment. Each session is tailored to your child’s age, comfort level, and goals so they can progress naturally and joyfully.
Your child will learn:
- Safe barn etiquette and how to move calmly around horses
- How horses think, see, and communicate through body language
- Basic horse anatomy and grooming with purpose
- Haltering, leading, and groundwork to build trust and confidence
- Foundational mounted skills including walk, halt, steering, and balance
- Empathy, teamwork, and respect for the animals they’re partnering with
Sessions build on one another and move at the child’s pace, ensuring they feel safe, capable, and proud of what they’re learning. Each session ends with a simple review activity to reinforce skills in a fun and memorable way.
One-on-One Connection
Youth horsemanship coaching is available only in one-on-one sessions, allowing us to meet each child exactly where they are and support their individual learning style.
What to Expect in a YOUTH HORSEMANSHIP COACHING SESSION
1. Safety & Connection
Children learn how to approach a horse calmly, understand body language, avoid danger zones, and use grooming tools properly. Grooming becomes a way to build trust and get to know their horse.
2. Groundwork Skills
Students practice haltering, leading, stopping, backing, and navigating patterns around cones. These sessions help build confidence and communication before riding begins.
3. Foundational Riding
Once a child demonstrates comfort and competency on the ground, mounted coaching begins. Students learn correct posture, rein handling, walk cues, halting, and steering. Fun confidence-building activities like touching toes or “airplane arms” help develop balance and comfort in the saddle.
